Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The Roosevelt County Road Department has announced upcoming projects in the Portales area.
Spruce Street will be closed for approximately one mile, from US 70 to NM 236/North Main Street Thursday.
According to a news release from County Manager Amber Hamilton, the roadway will be closed to all traffic while micro-seal is being applied.
Work is expected to start at approximately 8 a.m. to allow morning bus routes and traffic patterns to clear and should be completed by 5 p.m. Thursday, the same day.
Another project involves micro-sealing at Bingham Stratton, 21st St. from South Roosevelt Road Q ½ to NM 206, South Ave. B from 18th St. to 21st St., and South Roosevelt Road 8 from NM 206 to NM 88.
According to Hamilton this project began Monday.
This work is expected to be completed by Tuesday, weather permitting.
Hamilton reports these roadways are being enhanced from chipseal to micro-seal as per the County’s 5-year Road Improvement Plan, funded by the county’s Transportation Project Fund grant.
Hamilton adds as these roadways are worked on, the County asks all residents to watch for heavy equipment and personnel, and drive slowly, though traffic is urged to seek alternate routes if able.
