Lady Rockets run-rule CHS twice

ROSWELL – Roswell Goddard scored in all four turns at bat in both games and run-ruled Clovis High’s softball team twice 13-3 and 14-4 on Thursday night.

Junior Avery Chavez went 3-for-4 with a triple and a home run and freshman Quiana Gonzales singled and tripled in four at-bats to pace the Lady Rockets (5-7) in the opener. Goddard, which also swept Clovis earlier at Lady Wildcat Field, led just 4-3 going into the bottom of the third, but added four runs in that frame and five more in the fourth.

Senior Erika Dominguez tripled and finished 2-for-2 for the Lady Cats (2-10), while junior Adriana Silva was 1-for-2 and senior Shalanda Lefevre 1-for-3. All three players scored a run.

The third and fourth again proved decisive in the nightcap, with Goddard scoring five and six, respectively. Chavez and juniors Audriana Cobos and Annika Roybal all went 2-for-3 for the Lady Rockets, while Cobos hitting an inside-the-park home run, Roybal adding a triple and Cobos notching a double.

Silva, Dominguez and sophomore Brianna Gutierrez all doubled in two at bats for the Lady Cats, while seniors Aubreana Robles and Mikayla Romero and junior Giselle Romero each finished 1-for-3. Robles, Giselle Romero, Gutierrez and Dominguez each scored a run.

Clovis return to action on Tuesday with a 5 p.m. doubleheader against Portales at Lady Wildcat Field.
