Vehicle leaves roadway, damages two homes

A Clovis woman remains in Plains Regional Medical Center after her SUV left the road near 14th and Davis Streets and damaged two homes, one significantly.

Clovis Police Captain Roman Romero reports that just before 1 p.m. Tuesday the Ford SUV driven by a 39-year-old woman, who remains unidentified, left the roadway, struck the north side of the house on the southeast corner of 14th and Davis, then rammed the house on the southwest corner of 14th and Davis.

The damage to that house was described as "significant" by Romero as the vehicle, crashed through the east exterior wall of the house, continued through the living room, going through the wall between the living room and kitchen, before coming to a stop.

The collision damaged the home structurally.

Clovis Fire personnel were able to shore up the house as EMS worked on the driver.

Police officers made contact with the occupant of the home, who was not injured during the crash. The female driver was taken to PRMC and is still in care of the hospital, according to Romero

Romero said initial information leads police to believe there was some type of medical event involving the driver leading up to the single motor vehicle crash into the house.
