Portales boil water advisory has been lifted

The boil water advisory for Portales water system customers has been lifted according to City Manager Sarah Austin.

The Portales water system was shut down early Thursday morning after a major water main break in the vicinity of Bryan Street.

Portales Public Works Department personnel with help from ENMU's maintenance department had the break repaired and the system operating by 3 a.m. Friday.

City officials issued a boil water advisory as a precaution when the system was up and running but Austin reports as of about 5 p.m. Saturday the boil water advisory has been lifted.
