Albertsons joins other supermarkets in starting e-commerce services

CLOVIS — Friday, Albertsons supermarket in Clovis launched the company’s free curbside pickup and delivery service.

In a news release announcing the launch, the new shopping option is described as an “e-commerce service, designed to make shopping easy and convenient.”

To use the online service, shoppers must be an Albertson’s rewards! member with a valid email address. Grocery orders may be placed online 24 hours a day at albertsonsmarket.com.

Shoppers have the option to reserve a specific pick-up or delivery time seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In many cases, the report states, same-day curbside pick-up or delivery is available.

Orders may be placed up to seven days in advance and will only need to meet a $30 minimum pre-tax total.

Most products are available for online purchase, including fresh meat, produce, sliced deli meat, beer, wine and specialty products.

Albertson’s manager in Clovis, Bill Bargman, said there’s been “nothing but positive input” since the start of the service.

“We’re glad to have this,” Bargman said. “You have to offer services like this to be competitive.”

Kyle Brewer of S&S Supermarket said his store in Clovis has been offering delivery and curbside pickup since 2018.

“Our older customers really like this service,” Brewer said.

According to the supermarket’s website, S&S shoppers may order online at shopsands.com. Delivery is offered in the Clovis city limits and is free on orders of $100 or more and to those 65 and older. There’s a $5 delivery charge on orders under $100.

Curbside pickup is also offered by the supermarket.

Walmart nationwide as well as the stores in Clovis and Portales have been offering e-commerce grocery shopping options starting in 2013, according to the company’s website.

As far as services offered at other supermarkets in the area, Martin Delgado, manager at Farmer’s Country Market in Portales says his store offers an app for android phones “that gives our customers access to coupon savings.”

Tish Fenn, manager of Lowe’s supermarket in Clovis, says no e-commerce services are offered by the store at this time.
