Tuesday is Primary Election Day in New Mexico. Voters will be going to the polls to decide who will be representing their party on the ballot in the General Election scheduled Nov. 8.
County clerks in Curry and Roosevelt counties listed polling places and other details about Tuesday’s polling.
In Curry County, Clerk Annie Hogland said voters must be registered with a major political party (Democratic, Libertarian, or Republican) to be eligible to cast a ballot in Tuesday’s Primary Election.
Voters can verify their information, and even view their own sample ballot at http://www.nmvote.org.
On Tuesday, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Curry County voters can vote at any of the designated polling places, regardless of what precinct they reside in.
In Clovis the Curry County polling places are: Colonial Golf Course, 1300 Colonial Parkway; Roy Walker Community Center, 316 W. Second St., Farmers Electric Cooperative, 3701 N. Thornton St.; Youth Recreation Building (YRB), 1504 E. Seventh St. and Curry County Road Department – Road Barn, 1006 CR 6 (Center Road).
Other locations in Curry County are the Pleasant Hill Fire Department, 304 SR 77, the Grady Senior Citizens Center, Melrose City Hall and the Texico Community Building.
Hogland said her office in the county building on Gidding Street and the mall voting station are not Election Day polling places.
Hogland added anyone who was issued an absentee by-mail ballot by request must return their completed materials to the clerk’s office by 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Same-day voter registration services will be offered Election Day, but Hogland said voters need to understand and be prepared for a 15 to 20 minute process. Those who wish to have this done need to bring photo ID and proof of residency.
Hogland said if a voter is already registered Democratic, Libertarian, or Republican, they cannot change their party Election Day with same-day service for this election.
As in Curry County, Roosevelt County Clerk Mandi Park said the polls will open Tuesday at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
Polling places in Portales will be at the city’s Memorial Building at 200 E. Seventh St. and the Jake Lopez Community Center near the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds at 705 E. Lime St.
As for the towns around Roosevelt County, in Dora votes may be cast at the Dora Senior Center, in Elida at the Elida Community Center and the Floyd Community Center in Floyd
