Local educator appointed to boards

A local educator has been honored by two recent board appointments.

Donald Elder, history professor at Eastern New Mexico University, was reappointed by Governor Michelle Lujan-Grisham to the New Mexico Museum of Space History commission.

Elder's term will expire at the end of 2024.

Elder has been on the commission since 2010. He was originally appointed to the commission by Governor Bill Richardson. He was reappointed by Governor Susana Martinez in 2016.

The New Mexico Museum of Space History is in Alamogordo.

Elder has also been asked by the National Endowment for the Humanities to become a reviewer for their grant proposals in the field of United States History.

In addition to being history professor at ENMU, Elder also hosts the television show "Sportslook" on KENW TV. He is also sports director and broadcaster for local radio group Rooney Moon Broadcasting.
