Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Live music in front of a live audience is scheduled to make a return in June as the Clovis Music Festival prepares for three days of concerts by well-known performers, according to a flyer from the Clovis-Curry County Chamber of Commerce.
The headline performance will feature Southern rock band 38 Special, known for hits that include “Hold On Loosely.” “Rockin’ Into the Night” and “Caught Up in You.” The band has stayed together for 40 years, according to the flyer.
The 38 Special performance is scheduled for June 17 at the Curry County Events Center, with an opening performance by Rouzster, a Clovis-based band.
On June 18, La Maquinaria Nortena, a Roswell-based band that has been nominated for Grammy awards, Latin Grammys, and twice for “Premo Lo Nuestro” awards, and La Fruia del Bravo, will perform at the Curry County Events Center.
The festival will kick off on June 16 with a Faith and Family Night of Christian music with Danny Gokey, an American Idol finalist, at the Legacy Church in Clovis. Since finishing third in American Idol competition in 2009, Gokey has been a recording artist in Christian and country music.
The June event will be the 33rd Clovis Music Festival, but the first after two years of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Food and beverages, including alcoholic drinks, will be available for the Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18 events at the Events Center.
More information on the festival is available from the chamber by calling 575-763-3435.
