CCC president's contract extended

CLOVIS — Following a two-hour executive session Monday, Clovis Community College’s board of trustees added one more year to the contract of President Charles Nwankwo.

The contract is now set to expire in February 2024 following the 4-0 vote by the trustees. Nwankwo was hired as the college’s fifth president in October 2019, and he joined CCC in February 2020.

The board decided to hold off until its Feb. 2 meeting to discuss the compensation for Nwankwo, whose current salary is $185,000 annually.

Nwankwo came to CCC after five years at Chandler Gilbert Community College in Arizona. His college career has also taken him to Texas and Louisiana.

In other business at the Monday meeting, the board retained Lora Harlan as chair and Terry Martin as secretary following their re-elections in November.

Martin was sworn in for his six-year term. Harlan did not attend the Monday meeting, and will be sworn in prior to the February meeting.
