Interior design tips ahead on show

Information on interior design tips, making canapés and creating custom cuff bracelets using shape cutters will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and noon Thursday (all times Mountain).

Interior designer Kimball Starr is going to explain the tools you can use to change how you perceive the shape of a room’s interior. She’ll also discuss lighting, pattern and color in a room’s interior. Her business is Kimball Starr Interior Design in San Francisco.

Charles Broz (now deceased) is a former assistant professor of culinary art at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. He and one of his students will demonstrate the art of making canapés. Whether you call them canapés or appetizers, Broz believes they should reflect the over-all mood of the meal.

Marisa Pawelko is a licensed designer for Sizzix, and she’ll show how to create easy and fun custom cuff bracelets using the shape cutters from her collection. She’ll also show a wide variety of materials including Rowlux and adhesive rhinestone sheets by The Buckle Boutique. Pawelko lives in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Information on stuffing mixes, sewing with Spandex, and making cupcakes will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” noon Tuesday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Marcie Rothman is a cookbook author and chef and believes that “stuffings” are not just for the holiday season. She will demonstrate several recipes from Mrs. Cubbison’s Best Stuffing Cookbook. She lives in San Diego, California.

Andrea Schewe, a designer with Simplicity Pattern Company in New York, will share some tips for sewing with Spandex and other knit fabrics.

Nancy Siler, Wilton Industries, will show how to make adult and kids’ fun cupcakes, featuring a variety of themes. She’s Vice President of Consumer Affairs with Wilton which is headquartered in Woodridge, Illinois.

Design tips for small space living

Some of the challenges of small space living include:

b. Difficult to entertain or you lack dedicated areas for accomplishing tasks

c. Storage space

Solutions for living large in small spaces involve adjusting 3 areas: the overall look of the space, activities that the space allows and available storage.

c. Furniture style

Solutions for maximizing activities the space allows is choosing furniture that serves dual purpose, such as:

a. Adjustable height tables

b. Under seat storage

c. Coffee tables with storage inside

Solutions for maximizing your storage:

a. Built-ins

b. Wall beds

c. Under stair storage

d. Go vertical with storage to utilize the wall space.
