Search for missing man ongoing

Clovis police and Roosevelt County sheriff’s deputies on Monday continued their search for James Sneed, Jr., 55, of Clovis, who was reported missing on Oct. 7.

Clovis Police Capt. Robert Telles said on Monday, “We are actively following all leads” in Sneed’s disappearance, but there were no new developments or new leads in the case over the weekend.

A Silver Alert for Sneed was issued on Oct. 13. A Silver Alert, similar to an Amber Alert for a missing child, is issued when a person over 50 years of age who is in imminent danger of causing harm to themselves or others, is determined to be missing.

Sneed is described as a black male who is 6 feet, 4 inches tall, weighs 258 lbs., and has brown eyes and a bald head, according to the Silver Alert notification.

He was last seen wearing blue Nike gym shorts and a white pullover hoodie with red and blue letters. He wears glasses and has gold front teeth.

On a phone call Oct. 7, Sneed said he was traveling from Clovis to Portales. His truck was found abandoned on the following day near State Road 267 and Roosevelt County Road X, west of Portales.
