Applicants sought for county commission seat

Deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Thursday

SANTA FE —Thursday is the deadline for residents of Curry County’s District 2 to apply for the vacant seat on the Curry County Commission.

The seat is vacant due to the death of Commissioner James Ridling, who won the seat in the 2020 general election.

Applicants are asked to send a resume and letter of interest to Melissa Salazar, the state’s director of boards and commissions, at Melissa.salazar3@state.nm.us.

The appointment will be made by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. Whoever is appointed to the seat will serve through at least 2022, as the final two years of the term will be on the general election ballot.
