Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Clovis remained in the top 10 ZIP codes for COVID-19 infections Monday, but infection numbers are down over prior weekends.
Monday’s report from the New Mexico Department of Health confirmed 1,525 new cases of COVID-19 between Friday and Monday, including 52 cases in Curry County and nine in Roosevelt.
There were no local deaths among the 14 reported by the DOH.
The 47 cases contained in the 88101 ZIP code put the area seventh among all New Mexico ZIP codes, with Albuquerque’s 87124 ZIP code tops at 64 cases.
Last Monday, the state confirmed 1,786 cases, with 78 in Curry County and 15 in Roosevelt County. The weekend report before that, issued on the Tuesday following Labor Day, had 153 Curry County cases and 20 Roosevelt County cases among 2,510 statewide cases over the four-day period.
So far in September, Curry County has recorded 553 new cases of COVID-19. Assuming that pace continues, the county would record 830 cases, slightly down from the 869 recorded in August.
Roosevelt County has confirmed 143 cases in September. That puts the county on pace for 215 cases this month, down from last month’s 304.
The Department of Health will provide its weekly COVID-19 update 2 p.m. today, with streaming on its Facebook page.
