Local judges appointed to association board

SANTA FE — Two local magistrate judges were among 15 appointed for the New Mexico Magistrate Judges Association’s board, according to an association release.

Clovis judge Shawn Burns and Portales Judge Christopher Mitchell were selected for one-year terms during the association’s annual conference held in August.

Colfax County Magistrate Court Judge Warren Walton of Raton was elected president, Eddy County Magistrate Court Judge Jimmie “Chuck” Foster in Artesia was elected vice-president, and past association president, Los Alamos County Magistrate Court Judge Pat A. Casados was selected as secretary/treasurer. Retired Valencia County Magistrate Judge Tina Garcia will serve as the pro tem board member.

Along with Burns and Mitchell, board members appointed were:

The association was established in 1870 as a nonprofit and advocates for the state’s 67 magistrate court judges.
