ENMU adds Bob Clifford to athletic department

PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University has added Bob Clifford to its athletic department as the school’s associate athletic director for external operations.

Clifford, who served as athletic director at New Mexico Highlands, will be oversee all facets of the department’s external operations, incluing marketing, promotions, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising.

Clifford, a graduate of the University of Michigan, has worked in or around college sports since 1978, with time spent at Michigan, Oregon State and Florida Atlantic. Since leaving NMHU in 2017, Clifford has been an inepenent consultant for NCAA coaches.

"Bob is going to be a terrific addition to the entire ENMU community,” Athletic Director Paul Weir said in a school release. “His experience, character, and passion will be instrumental as we try to position our athletic department for sustainable success. We are excited for his arrival and input into our standards and process to make ourselves the best we can possibly be.”

During his time at NMHU, Clifford implemented an electronic ticketing system and played a role in a 300% increase in athletic attendance and $800,000 raised for a new field for the football and women's soccer programs, plus oversight of that field’s installation and a football facility renovation.
