La Casa prepping summer food program

CLOVIS — La Casa Family Health Center is prepping for its summer food service program in Clovis, Portales, Texico and Melrose, beginning next month.

The program, which will run June 1 through Aug. 8, is designed for children ages 1-18 who normally receive free meals provided by their respective schools.

Breakfast and lunch will be served at the same time at each site’s drive-up location between 9:30 a.m. and noon every weekday:

• Clovis: Clovis High School, CHS Freshman Academy, Marshall Middle School, Yucca Middle School, Lincoln-Jackson, Barry Elementary, Arts Academy at Bella Vista, Highland Elementary, James Bickley Elementary, La Casita Elementary, Lockwood Elementary, Parkview Elementary, Sandia Elementary, Zia Elementary, Highland Park, Hillcrest Park, Doc Stewart Pavilion, Salvation Army, Sunrise Trailer Park, and Windy Plains.

• Portales: Portales High School, Brown Early Childhood Center, James Elementary, Valencia Elementary, Lindsey-Steiner Elementary, La Casa Family Health Center, Greyhound Arena, and City Park.

• Texico: Lion’s Park.

• Melrose: Melrose Schools.

Individuals are to stay in their vehicles during pickup. The number of meals delivered will be based on the number of eligible children in the vehicle or that the adult states are needing meals. Walk-ups will be allowed but individuals must leave the area once they pick up their meals.

La Casa will also provide lunches to any organization offering recreational or day care services for children. Those arrangements can by made by contacting David Briseno at 575-359-3764.
