Finance authority accepting applications

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Finance Authority will accept applications starting Monday for distribution of $100 million in Small Business CARES Relief Grants.

Applications will be available noon Monday at nmfinance.com and will be accepted through noon Dec. 18.

Grants will range between $2,000 and $50,000, based on employee numbers, to help alleviate financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applicants must be for-profit businesses or nonprofit organizations with 100 or fewer employees. For-profit businesses must be at least 51% owned by New Mexico residents, and nonprofits must be a 501(C)(3), 501(C)(6) or 501(c)(8), or must serve past or present members of the Armed Forces of the US described in Section 501(c) by the IRS.

The funding will come in three rounds — up to $40 million for applications received by noon Thursday, at least $35 million for applications received by noon Dec. 15 and at least $25 million for applications received by noon Dec. 18. Applicants who are not funded in a round will have their applications rolled over into the next round.
