City responds to governor's public health order

CLOVIS — The city of Clovis is implementing operational changes Monday in conjunction with the state instituting new COVID-19 restrictions.

According to a Friday afternoon release from the city, the following measures will be in place until Nov. 30:

• All public meetings will be canceled through Nov. 30, including the Clovis city commission and Clovis Senior Services Committee meetings scheduled for Thursday.

• City administration, emergency management, finance, purchasing, and human resources will be closed to the public. • The city will continue to accept payment at cityofclovis.org and through its drop box at 321 N. Connelly St. Those paying with cash are asked to get a money order instead.

• Public Safety, including police, fire, EMS and emergency management, public works functions, including wastewater, landfill, streets and traffic departments, CATS, and the Clovis Municipal Airport, will continue to function as normal, with heightened awareness regarding separation of staff from the public where possible. With the exception of the CPD lobby being open for phone access, all associated city buildings will be closed to the public.

• Closures will include the aquatics center, Clovis Civic Center, Colonial Park Golf Course, Roy Walker Gym and the Clovis Municipal Zoo.

• Friendship Senior Center will continue to be closed to the public, but staff can be reached at 575-769-7913 or [email protected]. The Curry Residents Senior Meals Association will remain open for Grab and Go lunches for seniors at the west alley door.

• Clovis Municipal Court will remain open to the public with normal service hours as directed by the New Mexico Supreme Court. Persons with business before the court who are having health concerns, are asked to contact the court at 575-769-7860 or [email protected].

• Clovis-Carver Library will be closed to the public. Patrons are asked to sign into E-Books to access online reading materials library.cityofclovis.org. Books may be returned to the drop box at the Library or returned on Dec. 1 without any late fees. Library staff can be contacted at 575-769-7840 or [email protected].

• Clovis Municipal Airport will remain open to the public with normal service hours.

• The Animal Control department will be closed to the public, but requests to view or adopt animals can be made on an appointment basis at 575-769-7893 or [email protected].
