Clovis' zoo reopens Saturday

CLOVIS — If they put you in the zoo, friends and family can visit during regular business hours again starting Saturday.

Clovis’ Hillcrest Park Zoo has been closed to visitors since March 17 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

City officials announced in a news release Friday the zoo will reopen for normal business hours, though some restrictions will be in place.

“Zoo visitors are asked to follow the one-way route signs, wear a face mask and practice social distancing during their visit,” the city news release stated.

“Zoo visitors are also asked to visit the zoo in small groups as there are still restrictions on mass gatherings over 5 persons that do not normally reside together.”

The release said the zoo gift shop, reptile house and primate area will remain closed to the public.

The zoo’s normal business hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Mondays.
