During the June 24 tour, commissioners were generally receptive to the $12.8 million renovation that mainly included a 48-bed housing unit, two recreation yards and a medical unit covering 28,860 square feet. Other additions include a new sally-port, pre-booking space, medical exam area, holding cells and an inmate property room.

Other items on the Tuesday agenda include:

• Submission of a Community Development Block Grant application and authorization to let Chairman Ben McDaniel act as the county’s chief executive officer and representative in all matters pertaining to the participation.

• A request to continue participation in Eastern Plains Council of Governments for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

• A memorandum of understanding to transfer a 240 acre foot water reservation at the Ute Reservoir to the city of Clovis, with the city taking over the annual debt obligations of about $30,000. The Clovis city commission approved the matter 7-1 in its Thursday meeting.

• A 23-item consent agenda, including five copier maintenance agreements with Holland’s Clovis Office Equipment, two applications for ENMR/Plateau fiber optic installation, a $2 transfer from the commission budget to a retiree health insurance line item, and approval of a July 28 special meeting to adopt the 2020-21 operating budget.
