PORTALES — The New Mexico Department of Health will provide drive-thru screening for the COVID-19 virus today at the Portales Public Health Office, 1513 W. Fir St.
Testing is for essential workers, contacts to COVID-positive patients, and childcare workers from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., according to DOH.
“Testing is available to New Mexico residents regardless if they have COVID-19 symptoms or not,” according to a DOH news release. “Residents, however, should particularly consider being tested if they have any combination of the following symptoms: cough, fever, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and/or loss of taste or smell.”
Testing is free, but officials ask for insurance cards and that vehicles be limited to two people.
