Man faces murder charge

CLOVIS — A Lubbock man will face a second-degree murder charge on allegations he fatally shot a Clovis man in November.

Steven Hogues, 34, was indicted Friday by a Curry County grand jury for the second-degree murder charge, plus a charge of firearm possession by a felon.

Hogues was initially facing an open count of murder in the Curry County Magistrate Court before it was superceded by the grand jury indictment.

Hogues, arrested Nov. 23 in Amarillo without incident, is accused of shooting William Romero of Clovis the day before in the course of an argument.

He has been booked in the Curry County Adult Detention Center since Jan. 7, following extradition for Texas.

No attorney is listed for Hogues.
