Agents arrest 9 in joint investigation

CLOVIS — A “joint investigation between local and federal law enforcement agencies” resulted in the arrest since Tuesday of nine out of 11 people with warrants related to illegal narcotics and firearms, according to a Clovis police news release.

Clovis Police Chief Doug Ford announced Friday evening that “Operation Street Sweeper” commenced around 6 a.m. on April 9. He said it involved CPD, Portales Police Department, the Region V Narcotic Task Force, New Mexico State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Marshals Office and the Office of U.S. Customers Air and Marine Operations.

Ford declined to specify names and charges, citing the “ongoing investigation which is still taking place with the agents.”
