Budget among items on CCC agenda

CLOVIS — The proposed fiscal year 2019-20 operating budget for Clovis Community College is among the dozen items of new business on the agenda for Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting.

President Becky Rowley said the budget includes an increase in the school’s state appropriation, as well as increase to the retirement funding paid by CCC.

Rowley said all employees will see a 4 percent raise, approved by the Legislature in this past session, while student support staff will see an additional 6 percent, which she said is in response to increased minimum wage also approved during the legislative session.

Other items on the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting, scheduled for 8 a.m. in room 512 on the CCC campus, 417 Schepps:

• The meeting will be preceded by an executive session beginning at 7:30 a.m., which trustee Raymond Mondragon said was scheduled to discuss the board’s search for the college’s next president.

Rowley was named president of Santa Fe Community College last week and her resignation, which she told The News will likely be in late June, is included on Wednesday’s agenda.

• The board will hear a review of the college’s Upward Bound program, an annual requirement for all of CCC’s grant-funded programs.

• The board will consider emeritus status for Christy Mendoza, Caroline Popescu and Mona Lee Norman-Armstrong.

Rowley said Mendoza taught theater and directed the CCC Cultural Arts Series, Popescu was a nursing instructor and Norman-Armstrong was longtime director of student success and director of adult basic education.

Rowley previously told The News those granted emeritus status receive special perks such as part-time office space and library access.
