CLOVIS — A Clovis man convicted in November of his sixth DWI offense was sentenced Thursday to 3 1/2 years in prison, according to a news release from the 9th Judicial District Attorney.
A jury found Gerardo Vasquez, 43, guilty of third-degree felony DWI and misdemeanor driving while license revoked following a trial Nov. 15, according to court records. Judge Matt Chandler ordered the sentences run consecutive for the total of more than three years, the “maximum allowed under the law,” said the release.
“At the sentencing hearing, the State provided evidence of the defendant’s five prior convictions for driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor, ranging from a first offense in 1998 to a fifth conviction in 2012,” continued the release.
