1963: Clovis' Holiday Inn was preparing to host a "Variety Hour," a live telecast on KICA-TV, direct from the Holiday Inn swimming pool.

Jimmy Self was the master of ceremonies. The Sammy Bird Trio was the featured talent, plus "The Holiday Inn Mermaids & Water Clowns."

There was no charge to attend the show.

More than 200 Shriners were expected to be there as part of their state convention.
