Gattis tops Yucca in opener

In the first game of the season, the Gattis Fighting Cubs defeated the Yucca Chapparals 35-6. Leading the offensive charge was Jett Stone with three touchdowns. Kash Roberts had two touchdowns and kicked three PATs. Capping off the scoring was Blake Curtis who ran in a 2-point conversion for the second team offense. Great blocking by the line who created gaping holes for the running backs. Offensive players of the game goes to Stone and Roberts.

Defensively, the Cubs were lead by Jeremiah Johnson, Will Jordan and Dontae Jones with multiple tackles and sacks for losses. Defensive player of the game was Javon Jones. Also, kudos goes to C.J. Regulus and to Julian Ancira who made a game-ending and touchdown-saving tackle on a Yucca player.

Gattis plays again 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Norman Vohs Field behind Yucca Middle School.
