CLOVIS — A Clovis man struck Thursday afternoon by a semi truck was in stable condition Friday at a Texas hospital, according to a news release.
Charles Kirven, 32, of Clovis was transported by EMS to Plains Regional Medical Center and then flown to Lubbock after running into the vehicle’s path around 1 p.m. near the intersection of East Grand and Lydia streets.
“Initial investigation indicates Kirven was arguing with a female on the sidewalk just west of the intersection,” said the Clovis Police Department release. “Kirven ran from the female into the roadway and into the path of the semi.”
Police said the driver of the eastbound semi —Duane Gares, 59, of Clovis — “attempted to avoid and stop the vehicle but was unsuccessful.”
The investigation is ongoing.
