PORTALES - Police are investigating the death of an individual found early Thursday morning at a residence in the 1400 block of South Avenue B in Portales.

A police news release said officers responded about 3:30 a.m. Thursday "regarding a possible shooting."

Police "located a deceased subject" on arrival and the 9th Judicial District Major Crimes Unit was activated and responded, the release said.

Officials did not name the deceased and did not address whether any arrests had been made or whether any suspects have been identified.

Portales police did not immediately respond to requests for additional information.

Officials were seen late Thursday morning wheeling what appeared to be a body from the residence.

The only way to fight the bloodshed in our town is as a community project, reporting to friends, family, law enforcement, clergy, etc... all drug activity even if it hurts someone's career, family, etc... because funerals hurt most of all the dead never hurt!!!
