Clovis man arrested in stabbing

CLOVIS — A Clovis man was arrested Sunday for allegedly stabbing his uncle in the neck during an argument.

Corey Dixon, 18, remained Monday without bond in the Curry County Adult Detention Center pending a court hearing on a state motion for pre-trial detention, according to court records.

“According to the victim, he had been talking to Corey Dixon when Corey became angered. Shortly after this, the victim reported that Corey Dixon placed him in a rear choke hold and then he was stabbed on the right side of his lower neck,” said a Clovis Police Department news release.

Officers were called out to the 1600 block of Echols Avenue just before 11 a.m.; Dixon was located within an hour, and the victim was treated for his wounds at the local hospital.

Dixon is charged with two counts of aggravated battery and is scheduled next week for a preliminary examination.
