1988: Four hundred people crowded the Clovis High School cafeteria for the annual awards banquet of the CHS chapter of the Future Farmers of America.

Tamara Rush was named Star Chapter Farmer, and also received the Big E Award; Amanda Brower was the Star Greenhand for the chapter.

Several local adults were named Honorary Chapter Farmers for their contributions to the chapter, including Max Best, Bruce Hendricks, Mr. and Mrs. James Priest, and Dr. Hugh Ritch.

Rush's parents, Roy and Johnanna Rush, received the FFA Blue and Gold Award for outstanding support of the CHS FFA.

1973: Eastern New Mexico University had six days of concerts, dances, and special entertainment lined up for its annual "Spring Fling," a week designed to offer some stress-relieving activities for students facing final exams.

Events included solo concerts by John Hartford and Chi Coltrane, free movies, and a watermelon party. Organizers had also added a week-long Easter egg hunt for students who could collect the eggs to earn points that could be redeemed for prizes including two 10-speed bicycles.

A mind reader and a caricaturist were also expected on campus during the week.
