Agencies want help finding gun thieves

CLOVIS — Local police and federal agencies are seeking public assistance in locating a pair of gun thieves.

Martin Enterprise on the 500 block of North Prince Street was burglarized twice in the past six weeks and firearms stolen on both occasions, said a Clovis Police Department advisory posted on its Facebook page Monday afternoon.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the National Shooting Sports Foundation announced a joint reward of $5,000 “for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the thefts,” according to an ATF News release shared on the CPD page.

The first incident occurred Jan. 17, with “an unknown Hispanic male” subject “shattering the front glass door with a baseball bat,” and stealing a 9mm caliber rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun, the Facebook post reads. Investigators believe the same man returned to the same shop Feb. 15 with “an unknown female” and stole four revolvers.
