Woman sought in shooting arrested

CLOVIS — The woman sought by police since Jan. 9 after she allegedly shot a man near downtown Clovis was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

Gabrielle Carver, 25, was held without bond after being booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center soon after 1 p.m., jail Administrator Mark Gallegos said.

Police located Carver while looking for “another guy; ... she was inside the house,” Gallegos said Tuesday evening.

Clovis Police issued the arrest warrant on Carver Jan. 10, the day after she allegedly shot Aaron Tanner in the left thigh with a sawed off rifle at a residence on the 500 block of Wallace Street, records show. She was charged then with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Tanner was treated at Plains Regional Medical Center and released following the incident.

Attempts Tuesday evening to reach CPD officials for additional comment were unsuccessful.
