Clovis man convicted of 4th DWI

CLOVIS — A Clovis man was convicted for the fourth time Tuesday of driving while intoxicated, according to a news release from the 9th Judicial District Attorney.

A Curry County jury found Allen Tapia, 40, guilty of felony DWI and misdemeanor open container laws pertaining to a June 25, 2016, incident. He was pulled over then after a Clovis police officer saw him throw a beer can out the window, the release said.

Judge Drew Tatum ordered sentencing for a later date, at which time Tapia faces up to 18 months in prison and $5,000 in fines, as well as lifetime license revocation and lifetime ignition interlock (both with a five-year court review), the release said.
