1982: Two Clovis elementary schools were producing student publications with young editors and reporters receiving training by covering local and national news events.

Keevy McAlavy and Kevin Schafer were co-editors of the Sandia Elementary "Class News," while Charles Pharis and Heather Bemis shared editing duties of the Barry Elementary "Banner."

Teacher Aleene Gant oversaw the student production at Sandia, and Betty Douglas was the adult on staff for the Barry newsletter.

Pat Gant, principal of Barry Elementary, told the Clovis News-Journal, "I'm just as high as a kite on this project."

1972: The Parent-Teacher Organization at House School sponsored a 50th anniversary celebration of the school with an open house that included a tour of the new elementary building.

Teachers in the elementary - Mrs. Bert Franklin, Mrs. Harvie Harmon, Mrs. Linda Miller, Mrs. O.L. Mullins, and Mrs. Carl Upton - explained the new non-graded educational system the school was using.

Among the school systems that consolidated early with House were Roosevelt, Ford, Drake, Hope, and Grand Plains, and later Perry, Hassell, and Ima. In 1955, McAlister consolidated with House, but prior to that McAlister had absorbed schools from Browning, Ard, and Jordan.

Several people who had been in the first classes at the House school when it opened in 1922 attended the event.
