Pharmacy moving to new building

CLOVIS — Roden-Smith Pharmacy will be moving to a new building at the end of the week, but it won’t be hard to find.

The independent pharmacy will move down the road, just on the other side of Playa Lane, exchanging its 601 E. Llano Estacado Blvd. address for 305 E. Llano Estacado.

“We’re looking forward to the move,” owner David Lansford said. “It’s going to be a very high-quality workflow system for a pharmacy and we hope to be able to take care of our patients. That’s the whole purpose for us being in business is to serve the needs of our patients.”

Lansford said the move will provide Roden-Smith with a larger space to conduct business and he just thought it was time to invest in his own property.

The new building is owned by Lansford’s real estate company West Plains Properties.

The building will also host a new coffee shop called Blackwater Coffee Company, which Lansford owns as well.

Lansford said after the move Roden-Smith will be adding new services for patients including mobility aids, safety aids, home health care supplies and nutritional supplements.

“We’re an independent retail pharmacy, that’s what we’ve always been, but we try to, as you can see from our service platform, we’re really working hard to provide every possible service to our clients that we can,” Lansford said.

Opening in 1948, the 305 E. Llano Estacado address will mark Roden-Smith’s fifth home in its 70 years of business.

Lansford said Roden-Smith first opened at Fifth and Main before a second location was added in Highlands Shopping Center, which was later sold and changed names.

Roden-Smith also had a location in Hilltop Plaza before moving to its soon-to-be former location at 601 E Llano Estacado in 1999.

Lansford has owned Roden-Smith since March 1997. It employs 17, he said.

The pharmacy will close at 1 p.m. on Friday in order to move everything but the fixtures over to the new building and then will be open for business at its new location on Monday morning.
