Curry County Retired Educators

Introduced by Andrea Bigelow, Mr. Tommy Knight shared his extensive background and experience working with the homeless vet population through AmVets, WorkForce, CCC, and ENMU. He and his volunteers assist anywhere from 25 to 500 people at any given time. There are a few houses that have been donated and renovated in Portales and Clovis to temporarily house these vets, but there is an extensive project in development to build long-term housing in Clovis. The Community Outreach is located at 913 Mitchell where vets can receive help getting the necessary paperwork completed to receive disability. Transportation to Amarillo and Lubbock is provided as needed and everything is free of charge to the vet.

We invite all retired Curry County teachers to join us at K-Bob's at 11 a.m. for lunch, 11:30 a.m. for the program. Our next meeting will be Oct. 3. Topic: NMAER Convention
