On this date ...

1947: Tamale cart owner Robert Rogers had all of his tamales stolen after he left his cart unaccompanied on the sidewalk.

Rogers went into an office and returned to find the empty cart.

He reported the theft to police.

1947: A pioneer of Roosevelt County died after a months-long illness.

John W. Clem had moved to Portales from the Rogers community several years earlier and served on the city council.

Clem was born in 1887 and spent most of his life in Roosevelt County.
