Water line issue forces softball postponement

CLOVIS — With recent rains, the Clovis Softball Association has had to postpone a few nights of action.

But Thursday night, a lack of water was the problem.

Games were called off as the City Of Clovis announced a bust in the main water line at Guy Leader Softball Complex.

According to Clovis Softball Association Director Roger Jackson, the water was spotted on Field 4 and reported Wednesday on the Clovis Softball Association Facebook page.

The fields could have possibly been ready for the evening’s games, but the broken water line meant no water for concessions or restrooms.

“It was very unfortunate that it rained that morning, but there was nothing we could really do about the water line,” Jackson said. “You couldn’t really prepare for something like this.”

The pipes were fixed Thursday, but the games for men’s Wednesday night will be made up Aug. 23 and women’s Thursday night games will be made up Aug. 22, with time and field designations otherwise unchanged.

“We are very fortunate we have an extra week in August for these games to be made up and to finish up the summer season,” Jackson said.
