Chipotle part of card security incident

CLOVIS — Clovis’ Chipotle location was part of a payment card security incident, according to the company’s website.

An investigation with cyber security firms, law enforcement and payment card networks identified malware designed to access payment card data used at Chipotle restaurants between March 24 and April 18.

The Clovis location was affected April 11-18, according to a page on the restaurant’s website dedicated to the incident. Six Albuquerque locations, three Lubbock locations and one Amarillo location were affected, starting March 25, 26 or 27 and ending April 18.

The malware searched for track data from a card’s magnetic stripe. Track data often includes a cardholder’s name, in addition to the card number, expiration date, and internal verification code.

Affected customers are advised to review the statements of affected cards for any unauthorized activity and to report unauthorized charges to the card issuers as soon as possible.
