Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Club notes - Feb. 12

Curry County Retired Educators

Our guest speaker Mr. Whitehurst has a rich history of community activism and involvement through the Lion's Club and the area gun club. During his presentation, we were given insight to the proposed trap/skeet/archery range at Ned Houk Park. This range would serve to provide a place for state-wide competitive enthusiasts to show their skills. The Fish and Game would provide one and a half to two million dollars to build this proposed range, which would be voice-controlled and automated. Having this range would boost Clovis' economy, provide a place for people to practice and compete, and aid members of ROTC, 4-H, and hunter education. He encouraged us to let our commissioners know if we are in favor of building this proposed site.

We invite all retired Curry County teachers to join us at K-Bob's at 11:30. Our next meeting will be March 7.
