Last time out: The Greyhounds fell to defending Lone Star Conference champion Midwestern State 108-104 in overtime, with 44 combined points scored in the five-minute overtime period. The Javelinas dropped their second straight Saturday, 80-65 at West Texas A&M.

Last meeting: The teams split last year’s series with each taking a home win. The Javelinas claimed a 74-61 win at home last January, and the Greyhounds returned the favor with a 74-71 win in February.

Notes: Thursday’s winner will be eighth in the 10-team Lone Star Conference. The Javelinas would move 1.5 games ahead of the Greyhounds with a win, while the Greyhounds would move half a game up with the victory. The Javelinas are second in the LSC in scoring defense with just 68.6 points allowed a game; the problem is they’re ninth in scoring offense at 70.9 per game. The Greyhounds are in ninth place in point margin (-2.8 ppg), right behind the Javelinas (2.3) and well ahead of Western New Mexico (-16.3). Trey Sumpter leads Kingsville with 12.9 points per game, good for 14th in the conference. The Greyhounds have the eighth- and ninth-best LSC scorers in Marquise Harris (15.3 ppg) and CoRnell Neal (15.0 ppg). Neal leads the LSC in steals (2.1 per game) and is fourth on assists (4.5 apg), while Chris Lewis is sixth in rebounding with 7.9 boards a night.

Last time out: The Greyhounds took control early against Midwestern State Saturday, and held on late for a 78-64 victory. The Javelinas absorbed a 73-50 loss at West Texas A&M.

Last meeting: ENMU won both games in last year’s series, and have a 34-28 advantage with four straight wins overall. Kingsville, however, is 17-13 at home against ENMU.

Coaches: ENMU, Josh Prock, fourth season, 37-58. Kingsville, Wade Scott, third season, 13-53.

Notes: Along with a Saturday game at second-place Angelo State, the Greyhounds are facing the final two games of the first half of the LSC season this week. With wins in both, they will set a new program record for consecutive wins to start LSC play. ENMU is a game ahead of Angelo State (13-1, 7-1), which won 96-83 Saturday over UT-Permian Basin and is a favorite going into Thursday’s game at Western New Mexico. During ENMU’s stretch of 11 wins in 12 contests, it has shot 40.2 percent from the field and outscored opponents 72.3-61.9. Kaylin Rohrer leads the Javelinas at 11.9 points per game, just ahead of Kassandra Harris’ 11.7 points per game to lead ENMU. Kaylee Kana is second in the LSC at 8.2 rebounds per game. The Greyhounds have only Daeshi McCants (6.3 rpg, 10th) in the LSC’s top 10, but have three in the top 16 with Harris (5.9 rpg, 12th) and Johna McClelland (5.4, 16th). Greyhound forward Mikaehla Connor leads the LSC in assist to turnover ratio, with 51 assists against 28 miscues for a ratio of 1.8, and is seventh overall in assists.
