Garth Brooks to perform in Lubbock

No joke. Garth Brooks is coming to Lubbock April 1.

Brooks, the top-selling solo artist in U.S. history, will perform in a 7 p.m. (CDT) concert with his wife, Trisha Yearwood, at United Supermarkets Arena.

This will be Brooks' first appearance in the Texas Panhandle in 20 years, according to event promoters.

Tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. (CST) Jan. 27 via axs.com/garth (user account required) or by calling 844-634-2784. All seats will be $74.98 (total includes fees), with best available seats sold first.

Beginning with his self-titled debut in 1989, Brooks has released 21 albums, with sales of 135 million domestic units.

The country music star, who will be 54 in February, performed a surprise concert in Clovis 23 years ago during the height of his fame.

Brooks, who would go through Clovis Jan. 27, 1993, while en route to Los Angeles for an appearance on “The Tonight Show” and a Super Bowl national anthem performance, used a third party to book a concert by Yukon Jack at Clovis City Limits.

Bar staff figured something was up the day when Yukon Jack’s support crew was suspiciously large and attendance went from 100 to more than 1,000 quickly after residents discovered Brooks — born in Yukon, Oklahoma — was performing at a Clovis bar with a $3 cover.
