Minor accidents reported across area

According to Clovis police Capt. Roman Romero, 11 vehicle accidents were reported to police from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, but all were minor with only one minor injury reported.

There were only two minor accidents in Portales today, and no roads have been closed due to weather, according to police officials. Roosevelt County Sheriff Malin Parker suggested that drivers do not drive on county roads after sunset due to the snow turning to ice.

"As the sun goes down and the temperature drops, the roadways will become more icy. Drivers need to make sure they are traveling at a lower speed and Temperatures will be down in the single digits tonight but will warm back up into the 40s Saturday, rising back into the 60s on Monday.
