Fire causes limited damage to tire shop in Clovis

CLOVIS — Firefighters needed about 30 minutes to extinguish a fire in a work area at Brother’s Tire Shop on Thursday night in Clovis.

A passerby reported seeing smoke coming from the shop at 1220 W. Grand Ave. shortly after 6 p.m.

Clovis Fire Department Battalion Chief Dale Hand said firefighters had the blaze under control in 15 minutes and limited most of the damage to a workbench and a tire changer.

Hand said the cause of the fire was not immediately known. He said the shop could reopen in a couple of days.
