STAFF REPORT
A smattering of businesses and residences in central Clovis had their power knocked out mid-afternoon Friday after a car accident took place near a transformer on 14th and Sycamore.
Xcel Energy spokesperson Wes Reeves said 167 customers lost power around 2:15 p.m. after a car accident led to a pair of line fuses blowing. The power was restored 39 minutes later.
Reeves said a total of 1,700 customers got what he called a “blink,” which is an interruption of power that lasts a few seconds at most and is sometimes not even detected by a customer.
Attempts to contact Clovis police and fire departments about the severity of the accident were unsuccessful.
