The Clovis Municipal Schools Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. today at the CMS administrative building at 1009 Main St.
Agenda items include:
• Consideration of setting a general obligation and tax levy election, along with a school board election next year.
Voting would be Feb. 7 at Colonial Park Golf Course, the Youth Recreation Building, Roy Walker Community Center, Trinity United Methodist Church, North Plains Mall, and the Curry County Administrative Complex.
Up for election are board of education representatives for Districts 1 and 2, held respectively by Kyle Snider and Cindy Osburn.
Voters are also asked to renew a $20 million bond. If the tax levy vote passes, property taxes would continue for six years at a rate of about $67 for a $100,000 home.
Voters must be registered by Jan. 10 to cast a ballot in the election. Absentee voting would run Jan. 10 to Feb. 3.
• Permission for the Clovis High Wildcadettes dance team to travel to the American Dance/Drill Team DFW Classic Feb. 23-26.
The estimated total cost, paid through team fundraising and booster club dollars, is $20,070. The cost is $800 each for 22 Wildcadettes and $725 each for two sponsors in travel and meal costs, and four $225 entry fees.
• Consideration of a contract for electrical, fire alarm, fire suppression and public address installation and repair services. Snider Electric was the only bidder, which includes wages for $40 per hour for a journey man, $20 per hour for an apprentice and $18 per hour for a laborer 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. Emergency call-out rates jump to $65, $25 and $20 per hour, respectively, with a $55 fee and a minimum of one hour of work.
• Revisions to the elementary attendance zones.
• A professional services contract with La Casa.
