PORTALES — Coming off their first victory on Saturday, the first-year Clovis Christian soccer program dropped to 1-2 on Monday with an 8-2 loss to the Portales junior varsity.
The Eagles, a mix of boys and girls players, traveled to Las Vegas on Saturday and defeated the Robertson junior varsity 5-1.
Sophomore Jonathan Rodriguez accounted for six goals in the two matches, scoring four at Robertson and adding two on Monday against the Rams. PHS led just 2-1 at halftime before breaking it open in the final 40 minutes.
Meantime, freshman Sofi Garbarino represented for the girls with a goal in the win at Robertson.
CCS returns to action on Saturday with a 3 p.m. matchup against the Clovis High JV squad.
