Meetings watch: Clovis City Commission

The Clovis city commission is scheduled to meet today at the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Public Library.

Agenda items include:

• A 4:30 p.m. executive session covering property acquisition or disposal and pending or threatened litigation. The regular meeting is slated to begin at 5:15 p.m.

• A maintenance agreement with the state Department of Transportation for traffic lighting on the intersection of NM 209 and Wilhite Road. The department would construct the signal, and the city would maintain the signal and pay electrical costs.

• Presentations for the August yard of the month and city distinguished employees and supervisors of the quarter.

• A waiver of fees for ambulance standby services at Clovis High home football games and a high school rodeo.

• A pair of ambulance transfers to smaller fire departments. A 10-year-old ambulance with 257,540 miles would go to the Tucumcari Fire Department, while an 8-year-old ambulance with 276,783 miles would go to the Elida Fire Department.

• Appointment of Cliff Kuchta to the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee.

• An agreement because the parks and recreation department and the Clovis Sand Volleyball League for usage of its rental areas. Rental revenues are waived during league play, but the department doesn’t have much demand for the rental area on weeknights and the organization has historically upgraded the facilities.

• A street closure from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 15 on Main Street between the Hartley House and Hotel Clovis for a “Take Back the Night” walk for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The request includes a waiver of the $150 street closure fees.
