Bovina 62, Shamrock 18 — In a neutral-site game played at Randall H.S. in Canyon, Texas, the Mustangs took control early and never let up in an easy win over the Irish.
Senior quarterback David Lara completed 14-of-27 passes for 447 yards and five touchdowns, two to junior wide receiver Bryan De La Torre. Six players caught at least one pass for the Mustangs (1-0), whose opener the previous week was canceled just before halftime due to lightning.

Shamrock (0-2), which had 341 total yards, didn’t throw a pass until quarterback Dylan Harper found running back Payton Garza for a score on the final play of the game. Senior Colton Eddleman rushed for a game-high 130 yards for the Irish.
Muleshoe 54, Snyder 21 — The Mules bounced back from a first-week loss at Levelland in a big way, blanking the Chiefs until the final quarter.

Coyotes’ home opener canceled — The Dora Coyotes’ first home football game will have to wait another week as the To’hajiilee Warriors had to cancel their season.
“To’hajiilee could not find a football coach,” Dora athletic director Arnold Peralez said. “They canceled their entire season, but they didn’t let us know until Wednesday afternoon.
“It’s not a forfeit because they canceled the season and notified the NMAA. This doesn’t count as a win or a loss for either team.”
Dora (0-1) will now host Tatum in its home opener at 7 p.m. on Friday.
